BIOGRAPHY

Nicoline Valkenberg's headshotAs a Vinyasa Yoga practitioner and teacher, Nicoline approaches Vinyasa Yoga as connecting to a state of flow. Our inner world is in constant flux, where our own desires, needs and impulses are a moving river. Vinyasa is the practice of jumping into that river and moving with its currents. We don’t know where the next bend in the river will lead us, but through the practice of Asana (posture) we can learn to be more fluid in our bodies and our lives.

Influenced by both VinyasaYoga and alignment-based approaches, Nicoline's classes are a unique blend of expressive flow and technique. By utilizing both dynamic movement and more methodical work of asana, her aim is to cultivate more integrated patterns of movement, and a more embodied sense of Self. For more information about Nicoline's class experience, check out the Yoga Information page.

Nicoline first became certified to teach through the 200 hour Kripalu teacher training led by Yoganand Michael Carroll. She has since drawn her inspiration from study and training with Shiva Rea, and Barbara Benagh. You can find her at Boston's Back Bay Yoga Studio and South Boston Yoga.

"To remember to be present as the body is a skill that can be learned. To be presently happy rather than to seek to become happy is an open option for of us-in every single moment."
-Georg Feuerstien from "The Deeper Dimension of Yoga"
